See Your Best with Lifestyle Lenses

Unlike traditional mono-focal lenses, Lifestyle Lenses allow you to see more clearly at various distances or correct your astigmatism while lessening your dependence on contact lenses or glasses. Lifestyle Lenses are a great option for those with aging eyes looking to eliminate their need for reading glasses and to correct astigmatism. For those with cataracts the traditional treatment replaces the eye’s natural lens with a mono-focal or single vision, intraocular lens (IOL). Although this allows patients to see at a distance, they will still need bi-focals for near vision activities, like reading, or intermediate vision activities, like working at the computer. The need for extra glasses is lessened or eliminated with Lifestyle Lenses. In addition, patients with Lifestyle Lenses have the lifetime benefit of improved vision without ever having to worry about the development of cataracts since the implantable lens replace your eyes natural lens.

Accommodating IOL
Accomodating IOL's flex in response to the movement of the eye’s muscle, allowing for better near, intermediate and far vision. In fact, 98.4 percent of patients implanted with the crystalens® are able to read the newspaper or phone book and can see a clock or TV across the room without glasses and 100 percent can see computers, dashboards and other objects at arm’s length without glasses.

Multi-focal IOL Like bi-focal and tri-focal glasses, multi-focal IOLs have multiple focal points in the lens allowing for near, intermediate and distance capabilities. John-Kenyon American Eye Institute patients can choose from the advanced ReSTOR® and TECNIS® multi-focal lenses to restore most, if not all, near, intermediate and distance vision. ReSTOR IOL - The ReSTOR lens lets patients see from near to far, usually without glasses, using an innovative optical technology called "apodization.” This technology, used in microscopes and telescopes, allows you to see the big picture, while also seeing fine detail.
Crystalens HD Accommodating IOL - The revolutionary new Crystalens HD IOL is a single-focus lens that works naturally with your eye muscles to give you the quality of vision you enjoyed when you were younger. The state-of-the-art Crystalens uses a "hinge" technology, which allows the lens to move, or accommodate, with your eye to focus seamlessly on objects near, far and all distances in-between.
TECNIS® Multifocal Lens- Designed to give patients back their youthful vision, the TECNIS® Multifocal Lens provides patients with high-quality vision at any distance and in any light conditioneven in low light. The advanced TECNIS® Multifocal Lens is an implantable lens that restores vision after cataract surgery and corrects presbyopia (the need for reading glasses). It delivers results superior to those of a standard multifocal lens and offers an excellent chance to become spectacle-independent.
Monofocal Aspheric Lenses: Aspheric IOLs are slightly flatter in the periphery and are designed to provide better contrast sensitivity. Contrast sensitivity is often referred to as "functional vision," beyond how well you see details on a standard eye chart. Poor contrast sensitivity also can cause you to stumble when you fail to see that you need to step down from a curb onto similarly colored pavement. Lack of contrast sensitivity is not the same as blurred vision. John-Kenyon offers two aspheric IOL options: The SofPort Advance Optics IOL and the Tecnis Monofocal IOL. Both lenses can provide better contrast sensitivity as well as the ability to reduce visual abererations which can improve the ability to see in varying light conditions, such as rain, snow, fog, twilight and nighttime darkness.
Toric IOL- Toric IOL's correct not only your astigmatism but recapture quality distance vision in one step. Until the recent introduction of Toric IOLs, candidates for IOL's people could only have their nearsightedness and farsightedness corrected during the surgery. Improving your vision

Postoperative care includes follow–up visits and eye drops. Complete healing takes about four weeks but patients can expect to see results soon afterwards and can go back to many of their normal activities immediately. If surgery is required in the other eye, it can often be performed as soon as one to two weeks later.

During your comprehensive eye evaluation, our doctors will learn more about your eyes and determine the best option to improve your vision.
Lifestyle Lenses are implanted during a brief outpatient procedure that can last between 15 and 45 minutes. The eye’s natural lens is removed using gentle ultrasound energy, and is replaced with the lifestyle lens. The lens will become a permanent part of the eye and cannot be felt or seen. Most patients see improvement in their vision immediately after the procedure, and experience continued improvement for the next three to six months. In addition, patients will not have to worry about developing cataracts since the natural lens has been permanently replaced.
