More than 17 million people in the U.S. have had LASIK, an outpatient procedure that reshapes the cornea with a laser to treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), or astigmatism. At the John-Kenyon LASIK Center, we’ve helped thousands of people improve their vision, many to 20/20 or better. Even still, we understand that some folks may wonder if LASIK is right for them.
When you call 1.800.DIAL.EYE about scheduling a complimentary LASIK evaluation, you’re not just booking a quick consultation. In fact, our evaluation is probably one of the most comprehensive and thorough eye exams you’ll ever have!
We use advanced technology equipment to measure the thickness and shape of your cornea, make sure the eye sees well, and rule out abnormalities like dry eyes, retina problems, and even cataracts. If the above measurements check out and you’re over the age of 18, you’re a good candidate to move forward with the procedure! To learn more about the evaluation process, visit our LASIK videos page.
If budget concerns are holding you back, check out our affordable financing options. Whether it’s an insurance question, a payment plan through Care Credit, or use of your Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account, we’ll do what we can to help make improving your vision affordable.
You may not be a good candidate if:
- Your career wont allow it. Be sure to check with your employer or military service before undergoing any procedure, as some jobs prohibit certain refractive procedures.
- Your prescription is unstable and you’ve required a change in your contact lens or glasses prescription in the past year or two.
- You have glaucoma, keratoconus, or have suffered serious eye injuries. These won’t rule you out altogether – your surgeon will help determine whether or not you’re a fit on a case-by-case basis.
Bottom line: whether or not you’re a candidate, we’re committed to taking care of all your vision needs. Our doctors understand that LASIK is not the one size fits all solution for everyone. We’ll help you determine the best solution, even if it isn’t LASIK.
