Howard S. Lazarus, M.D.

Retina Surgeon

Dr. Lazarus is the retinal specialist and Director of Clinical Research at John-Kenyon Eye Center, caring for patients with diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, uveitis and other disorders affecting the back of the eye.

Dr. Lazarus graduated from Northeastern Ohio Medical University and served his residency at the St. Louis University School of Medicine where he was Chief Resident. He completed advanced retinal subspecialty training at the Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute where he was the recipient of the prestigious Heed and Heed-Knapp fellowships.

Throughout his career, Dr. Lazarus has been involved in the development of cutting edge treatments for retinal disorders and whenever possible wants to provide the opportunity for patients to receive the best, most advanced care available. He has served as principal investigator for dozens of clinical trials. The results of these trials have led to FDA approval of new drugs and to the development of new guidelines for the treatment of retinal disorders.

When he’s not with patients, Dr. Lazarus enjoys spending time with his family, playing jazz guitar, road bicycling, and photography.
